Back to Renovating 1969 Mobile Home
Hi There: I bought this mobile home just for renovating purposes. As I am an aspiring interior decorator, I wanted hands on experience in actual decorating and doing the work so I know how, and have a respect for the contractors I hire. Well it is working. Started in the bathroom with a new floor and counter top for the vanity. OOPS Bad idea. Plumbing is very old so did not take kindly to unhooking toilet and sink. So lesson learned. Start with the plumbing. Someone who actually knows what to do is coming to solve that problem. My problem is to sop up the mess and start over. LOL. Want to save money? Hire professionals to get a professional job done right the first time. Know what you want to do. Make a good plan and stick with it. Professionals are professionals, because they learned the trade and how to do things right and up to code. So don't try to save money by nickle and dimeing the job. It will cost more in the long run. 3 hours for a good plumber may seem expensive at their hourly rate, but think about replacing the carpet, flooring, insulation, anything that can get wet, things you see and things you don't see are way more expensive in the long run and by that time, you have the expense of replacing what got soaked and need to hire a plumber at emergency rates. I was very lucky as my bill was low and I own this place.
